If you’re an avid swimmer — perhaps planning to swim the English channel? — the Swimmo Smartwatch is a necessity for your training.
This gadget does more than count laps. It monitors your swim workout, keeping tabs on your speed, distance, heart rate and calories burned. The Swimmo syncs with your smartphone, so you can keep track of your records as you improve.
As of the now, after a successful crowdfunding campaign via Kickstarter, the Swimmo is available for pre-order. But if you’re not quite sure you want to take the plunge just yet, hang out until the next generation of Swimmo. Upcoming features include an Open Water Swim Mode that works in lakes, rivers or the sea, and a way to gauge your swim stroke details.
Swimmo also totes the ability to measure your Swim Gold Score or SWOLF. To calculate your SWOLF score, the Swimmo will count the number of strokes you took to swim one pool length and the time it took. Measuring the SWOLF score is the most effective way to keep track of your improvement as you train.
