Android-Wear, an Android-only version of the smart watch, is an option that offers customized styles, shapes and colors.

Pebble’s Smart Watch is compatible with both Apple and Android phones and starts at $99 (versus the $550–1000 Apple Watch) and are available on the Pebble website. This stylish and functional timepiece comes in multiple colors and has interchangeable wrist straps.

The polycarbonate watch is water resistant to 50 meters and can operate at 10,000 feet above sea level. The watch has a built-in compass, accelerometer and light sensor. Pebble Watch holds its charge for seven days and allows you to check your email, view your notifications, track your fitness and check the weather in an instant.

The smart watch trend seems to be an extension of wearable tech, such as FitBit, and can help make tracking changes and staying connected easier. Yet, there is still a time to put down the technology, take a vacation and enjoy screen-free time.
