Bolivia might not be the first place that pops into mind when you think of South America, but the country is home to beautiful scenery, rich history and some of the friendliest people on Earth. To get you excited about your visit to Bolivia, here are five films that will make you want to pull a Butch Cassidy.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

Because next time I say let’s go someplace like Bolivia, let’s go someplace like Bolivia.

Even the Rain

When a film crew travels to Bolivia to film a documentary about Christopher Columbus, they find themselves in the middle of a revolt against the privatization of the water supply. Even the Rain is a heavily decorated and powerful film.

Che

Benicio del Toro portrays the famous revolutionary as he leads his guerilla bands against various Latin regimes. Part two features his revolution against the Bolivian dictator in 1967.

Wara Wara

The sole surviving film from the silent era of movies in Bolivia, this movie was meticulously patched back together after it was found in 1989. It is a historical drama and romance set during the Spanish invasion of the Inca kingdom.

The Cartagena Brothers

A drama that details the 1952 revolution and 1980 coup in Bolivia seen through the lens of two brothers who find themselves on opposite sides of the conflict.
