The Purple Carrot puts a spin on meal delivery. The subscription box service includes all of the raw, pre-measured ingredients to prepare healthy vegan meals. Founded in 2014, The Purple Carrot follows a simple principal: Present people healthy meals to cook at home, using whole, plant-based ingredients with easy-to-follow recipes from talented chefs.
Each box contains whole, unrefined or minimally refined products including fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes. The Purple Carrot excludes meat and dairy products as well as highly refined foods like bleached flour, sugar and oil. Ingredients come from farms and suppliers along the east coast and Mid-Atlantic region. Products vary due to seasonality, availability and quality.
Meal kits cost $59 and are delivered via FedEx Tuesday through Saturday, depending on location. Boxes are sold individually, so you aren’t locked in to a subscription. Each freshness-guaranteed box includes enough ingredients to make two dinners, serving four people each meal. This translates to eight plates worth of food. Ingredients for one snack are also included. The Purple Carrot offers several meals to choose from per week, so select the two you prefer. Give The Purple Carrot as a gift in increments of two, four or eight weeks.
Currently The Purple Carrot only ships to the northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States due to the suppliers. Enter your zip code on the website to see if your area is served.
