Since its inception in 2006, the Warehouse Project has grown to become one of northern England’s most important parties for fans of electronic music.
As electronic music continues to make inroads into popular British culture, parties like the Warehouse Project offer a unique experience. Events are held in a former air-raid shelter on Store Street, which is actually underneath Manchester’s main railway station. The setting makes for an atmospheric experience, and tickets can be hard to come by. To make sure you get one, buy online in advance from the Warehouse Project website, where line-up details are posted months in advance.
Warehouse Project runs on an atypical schedule, with events from September to New Year’s Day. The 2015 season began on Sept. 25, with guests including MK and Groove Armada. House and techno music tend to dominate the line-ups, although drum&bass stars also make regular appearances.
Manchester has a long musical history, and Warehouse Project has taken on the task of continuing the work of previous hotspots such as Sankeys and the Hacienda. With a diverse group of artists and a memorable venue, the events continue to draw big crowds.
The city is just two hours by train from London, and many revelers make the journey from the capital just for the night. If you’re in the mood for a long night of partying, stay until the club closes at 5 a.m. and hop onto the first train back to London in time for breakfast.
