The Mediterranean coastal town of Valencia, Spain, is well-known for its world famous paella, particularly of the seafood variety. If you’re not sure what your days will entail, it may be wise to purchase a tourist card. The card, only €13.50, gives you free rides on public transportation and discounts to popular attractions.
While walking through the city, you may see people holding up signs that read “free tours.” These knowledgeable guides work off tips and can lead you through the city for one or two hours as they teach you everything they know about Valencia. The gorgeous Gothic architecture and charming streets are enough to satisfy you for hours of afternoon strolling.

When hunger strikes, head to the visually enticing Mercado Central where you can grab a few take-away snacks like fresh fruits, cheese and small servings of seafood at a picnic-happy price. Take some grub to the Jardins del Turia where you can relax on the grass and soak up the Spanish sun.
As the sun sets to the west, head east to the sea to sample some of Spain’s best seafood. Cheaper establishments that serve the classic Valencian paella include Bar Cantina La Loja de Pescado and Aquilino.
