Escape LA Tourist Traps and Check Out These Hikes

Los Angeles has a lot of charm within the concrete maze. The entertainment capital is filled with endless things to do to keep anybody wide-eyed. But, equally as incredible as its creative culture are the views from surrounding higher ground. Take some time to check out these three hikes with incredible city views.

Tuna Canyon Park, Topanga Canyon

Right in between Malibu Canyon and Santa Monica lies the whimsical Topanga Canyon with views you’d think wouldn’t exist in such a big city. Tuna Canyon Park is a short walk up to the mountaintop with views of the entire city and coast. A picnic at sunset into a full moonlit night is the best way to see it.

Rainforest Trail, Fryman Canyon Park

Not far from the Hollywood Hills, you’ll find this five-mile trail that will make you feel like you’ve landed in another state. It’s both easy to find peace and hard to get bored. The trail features a rope swing, mini toll bridge and incredible views. Oh yeah, and high chances of celebrity sightings.

Jim Morrison Cave, Coral Canyon

Take a drive up Coral Canyon Boulevard. in Malibu all the way to its end. Just before the parking lot is a trail on the right side. Hike up to the top. Look west and you’ll see incredible views of the coast. Look east and you’ll see incredible views of the city. On the trail to the top you’ll see a small footpath in the branches that looks like it leads to nowhere. It doesn’t. Follow it down and climb through a small hole in the rocks. Inside, you’ll see Jim Morrison’s Cave filled with graffiti -lapped rocks and an opening to incredible city lights.
