Big Sky is for lovers, they say … so if you and your significant other are looking for a winter getaway, this is the place for you. Big Sky is located right at the basin of Yellowstone National Park and boasts the most skiable terrain in America. Before 2013, the two ski resorts of Big Sky were separate, but the owners found they could offer much more if they combined the business for their visitors. Now being under one corporation, the skiable terrain has nearly doubled, and your daily lift ticket counts for all the 5,800 acres of terrain. The best part: The longest run is an amazing six miles.

With a little something for every mountaineer, Big Sky can accompany all ski levels and offer some of the most extreme in the world. Boasting an average of almost 400 inches of snow a year, this resort is packed with the most powder days and empty runs.

If you are not a skier, don’t worry about it! The summer has a ton to offer as well. Because this resort is located at the base of Yellowstone, many camping sites and backpacking trails line the mountain and neighboring areas. Many hikers flock to the Spanish Peaks where wildlife is common. Elk, deer, black bears, grizzlies, upland birds, waterfowl and wolves call this area home. Hunting is prohibited in national forests, but Big Sky does permit safe hunting in many neighboring areas. No matter what time of the year you visit, Big Sky has the ability to impress any visitor.
