While the Okanagan Valley is beautiful on its own with no shortage of natural beauty and outdoor activities, the region has been producing brilliant white wine and Pinot Noir for well over a decade now. September means both the harvest season, harvest festivals and leaves changing colors to become even more beautiful than it already is.
There are no less than 15 wine festivals in the O Valley in September, but we’re here for the harvest and the wine-focused dinners provided by a number of restaurants attached to wineries.
The Sonora Room at Burrowing Owl Estate Winery uses creativity and locavore cuisine to absolutely shine from its patio dining room or cozy indoor restaurant, each overlooking more than 140 acres of vineyard. In addition to stunning plates, the restaurant offers a number of library wines no longer for sale but that can be enjoyed at your romantic dinner.
Another delightful meal can be found at the Miradoro Restaurant at Tinhorn Creek Winery. Once again, it comes alive in its splendor and its farm-to-table offerings focus on Mediterranean flavors at both lunch and dinner. Its dinners are truly fantastic for any appetite whether you’re starving or simply looking to order tapas and enjoy the winery’s offerings. The pizzas are delightful. but when in the Okanagan Valley why not try the Elk Bolognese or the Wild Moon Organic Pork Chop?
