Legendary country music star Johnny Cash graced many stages throughout his lengthy career, but at the end of the day he rested his head at his countryside home in Bon Aqua, Tenn. Sitting on land approximately 40 miles west of Nashville, Cash called the house and farmland home for more than 30 years. Now, country music and Cash fans can visit the Civil War–era property to learn more about the singer and take in the peaceful countryside scenery.
The 170-acre property recently underwent refurbishment and reconstruction to become the Storytellers Museum and Cash Hideaway Farm, open for visitors this summer. Separated into two attractions, the Storytellers Museum — a former recording studio — is now home to some of Cash´s old guitars and other possessions, including his black Mercedes-Benz. The museum plans to initiate a daily concert series in the future to celebrate the singer-songwriter´s career.
One mile from the museum is the Cash Hideaway Farm where visitors can tour Cash´s home and property and understand what lured Cash to the comfort of the countryside.
The attraction is open Wednesday through Saturday, from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (opening at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday). Admission is $19 for adults, $14 for students and free for children ages 9 and under and active military members.
