Partied a little too hard in the Windy City recently? Head to one of these five eateries to get your fix and get back in the game.
You’ve probably seen this donut shop advertised all around the city, but have you stopped in? Now is just the time, particularly if you’re getting not only a strong coffee, but also a bacon and egg donut sandwich, or a fried chicken sandwich. Plus, if you can’t make it out of the hotel room, the restaurant delivers.
Au Cheval is diner food, if the diner was … well, classy and upscale. Get your drunk diner food fix with dishes like potato hash and duck heart gravy, or scrambled eggs and toast with foie gras. The burgers are also highly touted.
Farm food with European beer hall flair, the weekend brunch will soak up all that alcohol in style. Order the biscuits and gravy with eggs, or the fried chicken. Craving something sweet? Try a Belgian waffle with honey butter and blackberry jam. The picnic plate is also munch-worthy, with deviled ham, pate, eggs, pickles and sourdough toast.
Serving up farm-to-table food, Fork was rated the best restaurant in Chicago for chicken and waffles. The brunch menu includes all your favorites, plus a few others. The Hangover Helper includes an herb biscuit, cheddar, bacon, sausage gravy and scrambled eggs. You may also want to branch out with a schwarburger (a pound of prime beef patty and an array of other meats, between two waffles). This eatery also delivers.
So you partied too hard on a Tuesday? It happens. Luckily, Longman & Eagle opens at 9 a.m. every day of the week. If you need just one last beer to help your hangover, the PBR Breakfast comes with two eggs, your choice of meat, house potatoes and, of course, a PBR. For a dollar less, you can get the same breakfast sans the can of beer, a convincing argument for that morning drink.
