Tips / Destination

If you’re looking for a great domestic fall getaway, San Antonio offers a slew of culinary events, historical celebrations and cultural festivals in celebration of the new season.

Browse handmade pottery, textiles, jewelry, woodwork, paintings, beadwork and more at the Fall Artisan River Walk Show, Oct. 13–15, and enjoy a mashup of Día de los Muertos and Halloween traditions at the McNay Art Museum for the MUERTOSWEEN Costume Dance Party, Oct. 27.

Also on Oct. 27 is the Bud Light Haunted River event, during which The River Walk and the Shops at Rivercenter take on a haunted theme with music, dancing and a costume contest.

Oct. 28–29 is the Mala Luna Music Festival — a two-day hip-hop and EDM festival featuring national headliners and local musicians, artists and merchants. This year, the festival will take place at Nelson Wolff Stadium on San Antonio’s west side to accommodate large acts including Future, Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa, Migos and Afrojack.

Nov. 10–11, San Antonio’s Luminaria Contemporary Arts Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary. The nighttime festival is free with admission, offering attendees an immersion in music, dance, film, literary arts, theater and visual arts spread across the park.
