These limestone sinkholes are great for swimming and diving, so we’ve rounded up some of the best ones to visit.
This twin cenote is found near Tulum, just off the main highway. It’s seriously impressive to snorkel and even better to dive. It’s fairly pricey at $21 per person, but certainly worth it.
Smack bang in the middle of the town of Valladolid is a cool cenote called Zaci. It costs $1.50 to get in and you can swim around before having lunch at the restaurant up top.
Just outside Tulum is this peaceful cenote perfect for spending a lazy day. It’s crystal clear, hence the name, and the surrounding woods are great for laying around.
Found near Playa del Carmen, this cenote has impressive stalactites. The whole cenote is kept in semi-darkness and it’s easy for the light to play tricks on your mind.
Another cenote near Tulum, these partially submerged tunnels are full of bats and underwater rock formations. There are docks to jump from, and you can sunbathe in between swimming trips.
