Tips / Travel

Looking to save money on airfare in the New Year? Luckily, there are plenty ways to do so.

One great way is to use fare discount alerts through your favorite airlines and through various fare compare websites. Google Flights, Priceline and Momondo are great resources.

Another option is to be flexible around your destination and dates, a great way to ensure you can pick the cheapest place to fly and at the cheapest time to come and go. If you’re willing to fly on red-eye trips, you’ll save even more. Flying midweek, especially on Tuesdays, is the cheapest time to fly. Comparison tools like Skyscanner can help you determine your best options. (https://www.skyscanner.com/)

Avoid traveling during busy seasons, such as around holidays and peak seasons. Visitors to Hawai’i and Florida, for example, will find prices much higher during the winter season when lots of travelers are looking to escape cold weather

Set your browser to private when you’re searching flights. Some sites have tracking tools that raise prices after you visit the first time, but browsing in privacy mode will help circumvent that trick.

Book one to three months in advance for domestic flights for the best price, and two to eight months for international flights. Any farther out or closer to your travel dates and prices jump significantly.

More specifically, Kona Village has its very own Mai Tai Mile, where guests can find four unique and different takes on the Mai Tai. Each distinct drink is inspired by its setting and comes with its own story.
