Tips / Destination

One of the perks of Romania’s lack of tourism is many of the restaurants are locally owned and offer authentic, affordable cuisine. When in Timisoara, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the amount of budget-friendly options available to you.

Bruiaj Bar

Bruiaj is a combination bar and coffee shop with an eclectic, quirky appeal and stiff drinks. It’s a popular hangout for the local college students and the small space is excellent for tourists in need of a chill place to drink. The bar is covered in piano keys, the drinks have silly names and the joint often hosts live concerts and art exhibits for patrons to enjoy.

Beirut Fast-Food Libanez

This quaint little Lebanese restaurant located in the heart of Timisoara serves up excellent shawarma at fair prices. It’s sort of set up as a fast food joint, but service here can be a little touch and go. The soups and hummus are more than worth the occasional wait.

Suppa Bar

Suppa Bar is a local favorite you can smell while walking down that street — you know that’s always a good sign. With a large selection of soups available there is no better spot to enjoy a quick lunch. The tuna tartar is a surprisingly great choice as are the restaurant’s numerous vegetarian options.

La Capite

Who doesn’t enjoy eating dinner in a hammock or on a haystack? The garden seating at La Capite, set up to help you enjoy live concerts, is only one reason it’s so popular among travelers and younger locals alike. They have an extensive beer menu along with delicious traditional Romanian snacks, making it the perfect place to relax with friends.

Where Can You Find the Mai Tai Mile?

Stay at Kona Village on the Big Island of Hawai’i and you may think your experience consists solely of private, residential-style luxury and perhaps the occasional fresh pineapple, but Rosewood Resort has something else a little special. More specifically, Kona Village has its very own Mai Tai Mile, where guests can find four unique and different takes on the Mai Tai. Each distinct drink is inspired by its setting and comes with its own story.
