When you’re ready to head to the airport for your next flight, will you drive and park, or take an Uber? A new study looks at what’s most cost-effective so you can make the best decision for your travel budget.

Conducted by Upgraded Points, the study looked at the United States’ 50 busiest airports and long weekend parking costs, as well as the costs of a two-way Uber trip between the same airports and their destinations’ city centers. The study also looked at the ratings for the parking options at studied airports.

“With travel budgets often stretched to the limit, even the cost of airport parking can be a significant concern,” said Alex Miller, founder, Upgraded Points. “Keeping costs low by knowing the most affordable airport parking ahead of time, and when it is best to opt for an Uber instead, can all make a genuine difference over time.”

The study found, by and large, it’s more affordable to drive to the airport and park there rather than take an Uber. Uber was only the more affordable option at 14 of the 50 studied airports. The biggest differences in price were found at John F. Kennedy International Airport and San Diego International Airport, both at which travelers could save more than $80 by parking at the airport rather than taking an Uber to the airport.

The study also noted the cheapest airports for parking, as well as the most expensive. The most budget-friendly was Kansas City International Airport, with a $7.50 parking day rate.
