Casinos have stolen the pageantry of horses and speed of dogs from the track. The track is a great opportunity to wear the stupid hat you just bought while traveling. But, with the sun beating down, your hat is no longer stupid, but quite smart.
Whether in the United States, Argentina or another country that bets on the speed of animals, the wait between races can be exhausting. Thirteen races spaced over six hours. Tardiness isn’t punished.
Thirteen races mean $26 with a $2 minimum bet. Show up late; see the last four races. At that point you’ll likely stroll past the entrance fee of $2 on average. They make their money elsewhere.
Win-Place-Show is simply first, second and third. The most common bets are those three. Say “across the board” to let your animal pay you if in the top three.
Bet crazy, it costs $2 to bet a trifecta. Bet three dogs/horses whose names suit you. If they finish in your order of cool pet names, something that means something to you for whatever reason … $377.12.
The rest of the wagers can be explained by anyone at the track looking sad, if he’s crying and lonely with a fedora, that’s your man. He’ll talk about every bet for a $2 bet in the last race.
It’s a good day many miss.
