Zürich changes shape as the holiday approaches, becoming a winter wonderland full of busy markets, fondue chalets, candle dipping at Bürklipatz and light installations. For the first time ever, Zürich will also feature a pop-up hotel experience Nov. 26–Dec. 26.
The pop-up Hotel Noël will comprise 10 rooms in 10 different hotels, including Hotel Storchen and 25hours Hotel, designed by various artists to mirror different interpretations of the holiday season. The artists behind each design use the inspiration of Zürich to transform rooms into something special. Sebastian Utzni will design a room at Glockenhof Zurich, called “Sky is the Limit” while sculptor Martina von Meyenburg will transform a room at Hotel Krone into “The Broken Angels of the Krone.”
The pop-up hotel experience won’t be the only exciting feature present in Zürich during the holidays. Christkindlimarkt at Zürich Main Station, one of the largest indoor Christmas markets in Europe, will be present. The market will house a 32-foot Christmas tree adorned with thousands of Swarovski crystals.
Another pop-up experience beloved by visitors is Christmas Island, a spot popular for its mulled wine and open-air dinners featuring raclette and fondue made with Prosecco. Christmas Island will run Nov. 18–Dec. 23. Hotel Sedartis’sWinterlounge pop-up will run through Dec. 23, to provide visitors with spicy mulled wine and Swiss barley broth during the cold weather.
