If you’re seeking employment that will take you to new heights, this is the job opening for you! The most adventurous job in New York City is now accepting applications. If you’re eager to climb to the top of one of New York City’s highest skyscrapers 50 times a month with just a harness, consider a career as a City Climb guide. Work in the open air atop Edge, on the 100th floor of 30 Hudson Yards.

City Climb offers unparalleled views of the city while traversing open edged platforms and stairways. Climbers are fitted with harnesses and secured into the course by City Climb Guides. A trolley moves with climbers through the journey. Ascend 32 steps to The Cliff, 1,190 feet above the city, before reaching The Stair, 161 steps on an about 45-degree incline. At The Apex, at 1,271 feet, climbers can lean over the platform. End the experience with a celebratory medal and victory lap on Edge’s outdoor viewing area.

Does this sound like the career path for you? A few fun facts to know before you apply:

  • No climbing experience required! A certain level of physical fitness is needed, but Climb Guides are chosen more for personality.
  • Guides lead around three climbs a day, or about 1,000 steps.
  • Most guides say the best part is seeing guests experience the environment 1,200 feet above the city’s hustle and bustle.
  • Group interviews are likely, as collaboration is key to the job.
  • You might be expected to do jumping jacks and then read safety protocols to demonstrate you can multitask on the job while scaling a building and interacting with guests.

Are You Ready for the Final Switch to Real ID?

Yesterday, TSA began enforcing new identification guidelines, a change that’s been a long-time coming. Now, travelers must show a REAL ID-compliant, state-issued ID in order to fly on domestic flights, in lieu of a non-compliant driver’s license (some other forms of identification, such as passports, will still be acceptable).
