If you need your early morning coffee, a Keurig was probably one of the best decisions of your life — a machine that allows you to make a single serving with just the push of the button. Well, there’s a new machine in town and this one makes cocktails. Somabar is the evening robot bartender version of a Keurig.
Instead of sitting around a packed bar, paying for overpriced, watered-down drinks that consist of bottom-shelf liquor, you can make and enjoy cocktails from the comfort of your home.
“Somabar allows you to make craft cocktails without having to use a shaker, bar spoon, measuring cup or recipe book,” said Ammar Jangbarwala, co-creator, Somabar. “It allows you to make your own craft cocktails, or better yet, share those brilliant concoctions with your friends. It truly brings out the mixologist in you.”
Simply download the Somabar app, available for iOS and Android and connect to the WiFi-enabled machine. When you want to create a drink, fill the side containers, or pods, with your favorite alcohol, juice or mixers. The pods are removable so you can add all of your favorite ingredients and swap them out. The pods are also dishwasher safe and ideal for refrigerator storage.
Scroll through the app to select from 300 cocktails, from a Cosmopolitan to a Margarita or even a Sidecar. You can even customize your own drink of choice. The robotic bartender mixes the cocktail ingredients with a push of a button, creating a cocktail in less than five seconds. The app lets you decide how strong or weak you want the cocktail and provides recommendations based on your taste preference.
Currently the robotic bartender is only available for pre-order for $429.
