Just when you thought Disney couldn’t get any better …
San Diego-based craft beer king Ballast Point announced the opening of a brewery, tasting room and kitchen in the Downtown Disney district at Disneyland Resort. The opening marks the first-ever brewery for Downtown Disney (not to mention an exciting addition for parents looking for respite from the madness after a day in the parks).
Opening later this year, the 7,300-square-foot space will house a three-barrel “research and development” brewery, a New American restaurant and an outdoor beer garden. It will be Ballast Point’s first location in Orange County and seventh in Southern California.
Since its founding in 1996, Ballast Point quickly became one of the largest breweries in San Diego County and the 17th largest brewery in the country based on sales volume. It has locations in San Diego’s Little Italy and Scripps Ranch neighborhoods, as well as its original Home Brew Mart in the city’s Linda Vista neighborhood. It opened its first East Coast facility in 2017 in Daleville, Va., near Roanoke.
Marty Birkel, president, Ballast Point Brewing Company, said, “We hope SoCal locals and visitors alike will enjoy the wonderful atmosphere, seasonal cuisine, and good cheer (and beer) of our signature tap room experience that we plan to bring to Downtown Disney.”
