Gone are the days when food trucks were trending only in West Coast cities like Los Angeles and Seattle. Boston has many options for those who love a lunch station in a different spot every day. As the number of food trucks in Boston increased, so did the competition for which ones are city favorites.
The Roving Lunchbox
Along with an adorable name, this food truck serves handmade sweet or savory pocket pies. Savory flavors include Curry Lentil, Beef Empanada, Chicken Pesto and Warm Caprese, all wrapped in a melt-in-your-mouth pastry dough. Sweet filling options are Cherry Vanilla, Raspberry Nutella, Pear Raisin and many others. The Roving Lunchbox also has assorted soups and salads available.
Chicken & Rice Guys
Another local favorite, Chicken & Rice Guys serves up exactly what their name indicates — grilled chicken over rice. Of course, several other options including a tofu salad or a lamb gyro are also available. To satisfy your sweet tooth, diners can get some baklava as well.
Roxy’s Gourmet Grilled Cheese
This roving grilled cheese shop serves up food traditionally thought of as fast food in a healthful, fresh way. Check this one out for your favorite sandwich with a new look. The Rookie Melt is a classic with a twist — Vermont cheddar and tomato served on organic bread, while Green Muenster is a delicious combination of avocado, Muenster cheese and bacon.
Clover Food Lab
Despite the name, the food served from this truck is as far from lab-made as you can get. Specials are made daily and change all the time, so it is best to visit this one with an open mind. Clover Food Lab gained a reputation for its unique yet tasty drinks — Cinnamon Lemonade, Maple Soda, Blackberry Switchel and many more. Their ingredients are bought directly from small local area farms through Farm Fresh Rhode Island.
