Trends / Unique Itineraries & Tours

A road trip can be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, so make the most of it with a well-planned itinerary that takes you to all of the places you’d like to go.

If you have absolutely no clue what you’re doing, you’re in luck. Roadtrippers is an online road trip generator you can use by simply plugging in your starting point and destination. The website will then spit out the best route, based on all of the fun, photo-worthy and must-see attractions along the way, whether you’re all about natural wonders, roadside oddities or road trip food.

However, you may not even be sure where you want to start. This can be a problem if you only have a short time to complete your trip, or if you live in a part of the States that may not make the best starting point. However, remember road trips do not necessarily have to be cross-country, all-summer affairs. Sometimes, a weekend road trip across one state can be enough to get your fill in, say if you want to drive the length of the California coast, or across the length of Texas, or even to each Great Lake.

You can, of course, choose your itinerary based on a theme, rather than geography. Try going from winery to winery, or follow your favorite musical act for a leg of their tour.

If you think you’d like to get away from the States for your road trip, some destinations are more preferred for this particular type of travel than others. Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way is a favorite, as is the Netherland’s Flower Route and New Zealand’s South Island Circuit. If you’ve really got a lot of time on your hands, as well as bottomless pockets, you may want to try the Pan-American Highway, which will literally take you from the Antarctic to the Arctic.
