Honeymoons

The Caribbean might seem like the default destination for honeymooners, but we think you should travel just a little further south for a real romantic getaway as you embark on life’s greatest adventure.

Here are some of the best honeymoon destinations in South America.

Colombian Beaches

Though Colombia is part of South America, it is technically still part of the Caribbean, which means you get all of the beautiful and picturesque coastlines and tropical islands but more land to explore once you’re done soaking up the rays. The town of Cali is the known as the capital of salsa and is the perfect place to dance the night away, or you can explore the colonial buildings of Cartagena where horse-drawn carriages routinely walk the streets.

Argentina

Argentina holds a double whammy that suits anyone’s needs — you can choose a relaxing beach getaway or a skiing adventure for your honeymoon. Whether you enjoying soaking up some rays and spending blissful evenings sipping Champagne in front of a coastal sunset or sliding down a mountain full of snow and ending the day in front of a fire in a log cabin, Argentina has it all. Heck, you can even do both in one week.

Peru

Maybe you’re searching for a little adventure to spice up your new wedded life from the get-go? If so, Peru offers plenty of historic landmarks to explore and endless miles of jungle to traverse. The beaches of Lima are world renowned and make for a perfect escape once you’re done being a modern-day Tarzan and Jane.

Ecuador

Ecuador is a popular choice among newlyweds for the variety of activities it has to offer. The resorts here range from beachside bungalows to tree houses deep in the rainforest. Yasuni National Park is the perfect place to get back in touch with nature and you can spend your honeymoon spotting monkeys, big cats and other creatures you won’t find at the beach.
