In a city like New York, there’s a sports bar for everybody. With too many for one list, we’ve chosen six favorites, below.
Standings
If Standings were a little a rowdier, it would be the quintessential sports bar. This small, unassuming establishment is packed with sports memorabilia and refuses to play any music during games.
Kettle of Fish
This is the go-to place for Wisconsinites. It has plenty of TVs, but doesn’t always have sports playing through the week. On Sundays in football season, it looks like it could be part of Lambeau Field itself. Be sure to come here if you’re a Packers fan, and feel free to take a complimentary brat.
Mullholland’s
If you like outdoor bars, Mullholland’s has a great back patio for baseball games and summertime drinking. Even better are its menus of 22 beers on tap and array of bar food concoctions like waffle fry chili nachos and avocado BLTs.
Warren 77
It’s a fake dive in the middle of the Financial District, so it’s not going to have the typical sports bar atmosphere, but you can’t beat the retro video games and individual TV screens in the booths. Bonus points: It’s owned by Sean Avery of the New York Rangers and you can see the original Andy Warhol portrait of Wayne Gretzky.
Banter
This place is specifically for European expats and soccer fans that want something that resembles a public house in London. Depending on the season, Banter will have MLS, Champions League, La Liga and Premier League matches playing, served with a large variety of European beers.
The Irish Rover
Irish pubs are central to sports bar culture, and The Irish Rover is no exception. This Astoria bar is beloved for its community, regularly scheduling ski outings, trips to the dog track and even offering a free drink every third round.
