Luxury experience company &Beyond brings new and exciting properties to travelers to the African continent.
&Beyond Tengile River Lodge is a brand-new property for 2018. The lodge combines modern and authentic touches with a good mix of private and common spaces. Travelers can choose from nine floating suites looking out over the Sand River from the shaded bank. Each boasts magnificent views and the raised suites will additionally offer sunken lounges, bedrooms and bathrooms that open into the forest with private open air spaces. Living areas convert into children’s sleeping arrangements. An on-site spa and gym are available.
Tensile River Lodge incorporates a high level of sustainability, with environmentally friendly construction materials and efficient energy solutions.
The lodge doesn’t open until Dec. 1.
In fall of this year, &Beyond plans to re-open &Beyond Phinda Homestead, which closed after a fire in 2016. The lodge’s new design mimics that of a contemporary, private bush home. The designers combine raw materials with local accents, incorporating the property’s history as a pineapple farm. Zulu basketwork and weaving are found throughout. Common spaces include a gym, massage room, library and spacious deck with an island bar and decorative herb garden. Reservations are available for stays starting Sept. 1.
Two &Beyond properties are due for a refurbishment — Phinda Vlei Lodge at &Beyond Phinda Private Game Reserve and &Beyond Bateleur Camp. The former receives a new design with plantation-inspired features, with old world luxury and elegant common spaces. Accents include antique tapestries, fine art, vintage linens and silver and crystal. The latter opens a new camp just next month, with tented suites with built-in daybeds on the verandas and stone courtyards accessed via bathrooms. Other new accents include water features, a fitness center, a coffee and gin bar and shopping options. A new family suite is also available.
