When exploring a city in the United States or Europe, it can sometimes be hard to find a comprehensive guide to not only museums, galleries and other cultural spaces but also to what lies within these places. The Bloomberg Connects app, a free mobile app, features more than 80 museums, galleries, gardens, sculpture parks and more to enhance travelers’ experiences to these destinations.
Here are just some of the fun features of Bloomberg Connects:
The app takes visitors into the Guggenheim Museum in New York City, allowing guests to learn about the museum’s permanent collection of classic and modern art, as well as the latest exhibits. The app provides accompanying audio and images for different pieces featured in the museum, and even offers an expert guide through The Frick Collection’s trove of classic artwork.
Outdoor lovers can use the app to explore Central Park and its more than 840 acres or discover the beauty of the New York Botanical Garden.
Roadtrippers have a plethora of options through the app, as well. In Marfa, Texas, watch intimate film portraits through the app on the Judd foundation’s contributions to the arts. In Mississippi, hear directly from the home-grown artists of the Mississippi Museum of Art. The app also features The Greenwood Art Project, which tells the story of the tragic Tulsa Race Massacre through spectacular works of art. In Los Angeles, watch profiles of the artists behind the Hammer Museum’s eclectic art collection.
Should you find yourself in Europe, Bloomberg Connects contains everything you need to further immerse yourself into the world of art, culture and history. Head to Churchill’s War Rooms at London’s Imperial War Museum to receive a guided tour by a historian, all via the app. A guide also takes you through the history of Black Britons at London’s Black Cultural Archives. Theater lovers can enjoy backstage footage of London’s National Theatre.
Hear directly from this year’s awardees at the Venice Biennale or explore the sculptures and gardens at the American Academy in Rome. In Paris, watch artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude plan their landmark public artwork, L’Arc de Triomphe, Wrapped.
Download the Bloomberg Connects app for free on both Google Play and the Apple Store.
