Feast your eyes on a huge number of vintage cars from around the world during the annual run from the British capital to the seaside town of Brighton.
Bonhams organizes the run every year on the first Sunday of November, and the event is celebrated its 119th anniversary in 2015. The run commemorates the Emancipation Run of Nov. 14, 1896, celebrating the Locomotives on the Highway Act which allowed “light locomotives” to travel at up to 14 mph instead of just 4 mph.
The run begins in London’s Hyde Park, before participants set off on the 60-mile journey to Brighton. 500 vehicles manufactured before 1905 will be on show, providing visitors the opportunity to see some early examples of the technology that would come to dominate transport in the 20th century.
After following the cars down to Brighton, why not enjoy the rest of the day strolling along the pebbly beach of one of Britain’s most renowned seaside resorts, taking in the views of the iconic West Pier, before heading back to London refreshed after a day of sea air. The Veteran Car Run provides the perfect opportunity to get out of London and take in some of England’s famous rolling hills.
