Trends

FTLO Travel offers a new take on group travel with a “travel solo, not alone” mantra inviting young, millennial and professional travelers to join curated group trips to help build community and provide more immersive travel experiences. FTLO Travel offers no-planning-required, sustainably focused trips to more than 30 countries. This year, however, it’s offering something brand-new: phone-free international trips.

The new series of phone-free itineraries require trip participants not use smartphones for the entire duration of their journey. They’ll use paper maps to get around; pocket dictionaries to translate foreign languages; and, in other words, travel the way that folks did before the smartphone age.

“In today’s digital age, we have become increasingly dependent on our smartphones, and it is negatively impacting our mental well-being and our ability to be present. By removing this distraction, travelers can fully engage with the destination they’re visiting and build new relationships with like-minded trip mates,” said Tara Cappel, founder and CEO, FTLO Travel.

The phone-free itineraries kick off this year and include trips to Iceland, Costa Rica, Mexico, Portugal, Cuba and Italy. The trips start at $1,999 per person.
