There has been a range of portable Bluetooth speakers released over the years, including a number of waterproof models designed for musically-minded trekkers. One such speaker is the BOOM Swimmer, which has a few features that sets it apart from the rest.
The Swimmer is smaller than an apple and comes with a detachable tail, which is flexible and introduces a fun element of placement to the listening experience. The tail can be hooked around your showerhead, carabiner, chain-link fence, backpack, handlebars, pretty much anywhere you can use some added soundtrack. There is also an attachable suction cup with a strong hold that will last long.
For such a compact speaker, the BOOM Swimmer is surprisingly loud, though the sound can start distorting at higher volumes. Users have the option of using either the Bluetooth or 3.5mm audio connection. There are physical buttons hidden under the protective silicone layer, which earns the device an IPX7 rating, meaning it is submergible in water for up to 30 minutes. The battery is stated to last up to eight hours at full volume, taking two hours to recharge completely.
