Santa Fe is predominately known for its wonderful art scene and access to the outdoors, but it also boasts a delightful array of tasty places to eat. Here are some of the best restaurants in the city for those looking to save a few bucks but still have a great meal.
Il Vicino is actually part of a local New Mexico chain steadily expanding beyond its borders. As one of the original locations, Il Vicino is a staple in Santa Fe and offers up some spectacular pizzas. They serve mostly individual sizes at less than $10 each. One of the best is the wood-fired Angeli.
Pantry is so popular people drive from Albuquerque just to have it. The traditional Mexican breakfast is a favorite among diners along with their delectable green chili. Really, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu here.
While Pollo Asado might look a little dumpy, you’ll actually find some of the most flavorful food in Santa Fe hidden within its walls. The grilled chicken is the real draw and comes in a generous portion. It’s a family recipe that the owners refuse to share, but whatever is in it causes lines in the parking lot.
Del Charro is the perfect place for those seeking an eco-friendly, locally responsible restaurant with mouthwatering food. The burgers are all grass-fed and locally sourced and the vegetarian stuffed poblano peppers will knock your socks off. Each day offers a new special, so be sure to give it a try at least once or twice.
