Weddings / Wedding

There are many reasons to go with inverted floral arrangements on your wedding day. Even if you’re not primarily drawn to the unique aesthetic they lend, most can at least admit they can make your life a bit easier in certain situations.

The occasional bride will opt for large, dramatic flowers often capable of taking on a life of their own and overrunning the entire wedding. Whether you are this person or you know this person, it may be time to look into or suggest inverted floral arrangements. Overwhelming centerpieces and stand-alone floral arrangements can overtake reception tables, block views and get in the way of your photographer and guests. Invert them, however, and you can go as big and bold as your heart desires, the more the merrier.

When your flowers are hanging above your guests’ heads, you have the perks of all the flowers you want, without the drawbacks that come with traditional arrangements.

Keep in mind, though, the costly and technical details of inverted floral arrangements. They’re not as simple as centering a vase on top of a table. Your florist will be need to be at the site of your wedding well in advance to correctly hang the arrangements, and then will most likely need to return to remove them. Not all florists are capable of doing so, and you may have to look around a bit for one who can, especially if you live in a small wedding market.

However, if you do decide to use inverted floral arrangements, it doesn’t guarantee you’ll break your wedding budget. You can always choose to go half inverted and half traditional. Go with inverted arrangements as a background for your ceremony space, or framing the entryway to your reception. Remember — there’s no need for your wedding flowers to be ordinary. Think outside the box and create your own way of doing things.
