Choosing a Wedding Venue

Wedding

In many ways a wedding venue sets the tone for the other choices that you will make when planning your big day, so it’s important to get it right.

As boring as it may sound, the most important consideration is your budget. Splashing out on an opulent venue is fine if your budget can stretch to it, but there is no sense having to scale back on other areas because you overstretched on the venue.

Second, make sure the venue is suited for your desired event, in terms of layout and capacity. Another consideration is catering, as some venues have exclusive contracts with certain caterers that might not be to your taste.

It’s also important to visit the venue and see how well it will suit the theme you are planning. If the space needs some extra decoration to make it your ideal wedding venue, remember to factor in additional costs of bringing your own decorations. Always remember to visit the venue at the same time of day as your wedding will take place.

Lastly, keep in mind any logistical factors such as adequate parking space, especially important in non-traditional venues and disability access for older members of the party. Once you’re happy with the venue, you’ve got the first major building block in place! Now it’s time to get down to planning the details.
