Located an eight-minute ferry ride from Manhattan or a five-minute ferry ride from Brooklyn, Governors Island is a 173-acre island in New York Harbor and home to Collective Retreats’ Collective Governors Island. The outdoor luxury property unveiled three new lodging options for the 2023 season: Outlook Villa, Outlook Liberty Suite and Outlook Shelter.
“We designed these guest units with the intention of bringing to life the core of what Collective Retreats is,” said Cassie Novick, chief creative officer, Collective Retreats. “Our goal is to maintain a seamless connection between indoors and outdoors, while creating spaces that are the antithesis of a traditional hotel room.”
Outlook Villa was designed by Tenthouse Structures. The private suite features a bedroom with folding glass doors, connecting an indoor-outdoor furnished terrace with a suspended fireplace. There is also a multifunctional bar top with an accordion window connecting to an outdoor counter. The suite is available for all seasons.
Outlook Liberty Suite was designed from a new prototype by Dvele. Using state-of-the-art manufacturing, the suite is energy efficient and climate resilient. Floor-to-ceiling sliding doors open to the suite’s covered terraces.
Outlook Shelter is a standalone space with two private terraces with views of the Statue of Liberty. Private bathrooms boast a soaking tub.
Outlook Collection accommodations include air conditioning, heating, WiFi, in-room bar, refrigerator stocked with drinks and snacks, nightly turndown service and a personal fire pit.
