I feel like I have to let it be known I am not a comic book fan. Having said that, I absolutely loved every minute of my time at Comic Con. Simply put, you don’t have to care about comics at all to have a good time here, though I’m sure it’d only make it more exciting.
Hundreds of fans take to the streets and convention center of downtown San Diego during the three-day event and there’s always something crazy to see. In particular, I loved the Cersei Lannister cosplayer who wasn’t afraid to walk the streets in a full-blown nude bodysuit, covered in fake feces and followed closely by a drab woman wielding a bell and shouting, “Shame.” If you’ve seen the show, you know what I’m talking about.
The Fear the Walking Dead experience was a fun way to see how the show works. They set up an actual scene from the taping and let people walk through it while zombies lurked around corners.
Inside the convention center, I only managed to attend a couple of panels. The actors were mostly charming and it was fun to see the excitement of everyone in attendance. The feeling was almost palpable.
The city itself became a nightmare during this time, but overall I had a blast. I would highly recommend it to anyone considering going.
