Craft Beer in Guatemala

The craft beer movement that swept the globe was slow to take hold in Guatemala, but that changed in the last few years.

These days, craft beer enjoys greater success as locals and visitors alike take more of an interest in microbreweries and their products. One of the first places craft beer fans should check out is El Principe Gris in the trendy Zone 4 of Guatemala City, a microbrewery that operates its own bar. It’s small,l but it’s worth checking out, plus the beers are available at a select number of restaurants and bars in the capital and Antigua.

Another stalwart of the craft beer scene is the Antigua Brewing Company. Set up by local Guatemalans and expat foreigners in the charming colonial town that gives the company its name, the microbrewery releases a steady stream of small-batch beers.
