Tips / Travel

For many people, finding a perfect souvenir to remind you of your trip is a top priority while traveling. While t-shirts, pens, key chains and other airport shopping items are convenient and abundant, they aren’t creative. Upgrade your memories by creating a unique travel souvenir collection.

Art

Look for a gallery or market selling pieces of art by local artists. If you have room in your suitcase, purchase a larger-scale framed work. If you are confined to a carry-on, opt for a small piece you can later frame at home.

Currency

While this might not be the most economical collection, keeping a few coins or bills of a foreign currency makes for a fun collection. Oftentimes banks or other services won’t buy back coins, so start your collection there.

Destination-Specific Keepsakes

Though this collection will vary and is the most tourist-y of all, a knick knack from your travels will always help remind you of the destination.

Jewelry

Look for a unique or handmade piece of jewelry from your travels. You can be more specific by seeking out a bracelet or earrings, or simply begin with any piece of jewelry.

Scarves

Textile designs vary by destination, so you are likely to find unique scarves wherever you travel.

Of course, you will need to consider the destination and length of your stay. If you can’t find your particular item, it’s time to plan your next trip.
