Normandy is situated in northern France and is a region steeped in history and culture.

The region saw the heroic D-Day landings that played a huge role in the eventual defeat of Nazi Germany in World War II, and as such Normandy has a huge significance for many people. The long sweeping beaches and rolling hills make for a beautiful setting, and there are plenty of venues to choose from.

If you are looking for old-world French charm, you can’t do much better than the Chateau de Saint-Macloud-La-Campagne. The 17th-century chateau sits on extensive grounds, with well-manicured lawns that can hold even the largest of wedding celebrations. The chateau is just 15 kilometers from the charming port of Honfleur, which is definitely worth a visit after the festivities are over.

La Grange de Bourgoult offers a slightly less grand, but no less picturesque, alternative venue. It is also situated closer to Paris which makes for easier access. The old farmhouse can host events with up to 500 guests.

Normandy is at its best from May to July, which logically coincides for the peak season for tourism. You will find hotels are busier during this period, so it’s best to book ahead. At other times of the year Normandy retains its beauty, but rainy conditions could put a damper on your big day.

The region is easy to reach by train or car from the French capital, Paris. If you are coming from England, you can also catch a cross-channel ferry to the port of Le Havre.

After the big day, there is plenty to see in the region, which is famed for its apple cider. Stick around to sip on some of the local specialty, lounge on the beaches or cycle through the charming country lanes. It’s a slice of picture-postcard France that will make for a truly memorable occasion for you and your guests.
