Splitting expenses between a group of travelers is at best an unwelcome chore and at worst a potential source of conflict. There are various apps designed to make the process less painful, and Cost Split is one of the most widely renowned.
The app is currently available on the iOS operating system, so iPhone and iPad users can download it from the app store. Each member of the group can add expenses from their personal device, and the shared document will be updated for all users due to the cloud-sync capability.
It is simple to use while traveling. Simply add your group of people and input the expenses as they arise, before generating a report when it is time to pay up. Cost Split calculates who owes what to whom, eliminating the need for scrawled calculations and the use of rusty mental arithmetic.
No registration is required to use the app, streamlining the process. Cost Split allows expenses to be added even when there is no Internet connection, which is perfect for travelers who find themselves in far-flung destinations.
Expenses can be split unevenly between members of the group, and currency conversion rates are drawn from the Internet (when available) to facilitate the splitting of expenses incurred in multiple different countries.
Cost Split is one of a number of ways in which travelers can use technology to make their lives easier while on the road, and prevent money coming between friends, whether they are new or old.
