It’s been 50 years since the movie Lawrence of Arabia inspired an entire generation of travelers to seek out the hidden wonders of Saudi Arabia. Today, you can still experience the trek showcased in the film by following in his footsteps.
Wadi Rum Camp offers a 10-day tour of the country that will take you along the course of the famed army officer. The tour begins in Amman, where you’ll stay for a night with time to explore a bit of the city on your own before embarking on the trip.
Next, you’ll make your way to the ancient city of Jerash, where you’ll explore the fortress of Aljun. From there, it’s on to Mount Nebo and the Dead Sea. While here, you’ll explore churches and the fortress Kerak.
The next stop will be the city of Petra, where you’ll spend a couple of days exploring local culture and surrounding mountains. Finally, you’ll make your way to Wadi Rum. Here you’ll experience what seems like an endless array of sand dunes and even stop at Lawrence’s house.
