Windstar Cruises heads to Alaska this May after a 20-year hiatus, with the Star Legend and as many as 212 guests.
Four cruise itineraries are offered for up to 20 days of exploration and unique experiences.
“Our cruise tours coupled with our new Signature Expeditions will take our guests beyond the expected,” said John Delaney, president, Windstar. “Traveling in small groups with more freedom to explore and meet locals eager to share their world and discovering some of the most authentic corners of ‘The Last Frontier’ by small ship are just a few of the spectacular highlights of Windstar’s new cruise tours in Alaska.”
The Denali & Alaskan Wilderness cruise sets sail from Fairbanks and travels to Vancouver over 18 days. The four-day land tour portion begins in Fairbanks and includes a visit to Denali National Park and Talkeetna. During the sailing portion, guests can expect to see Kenai Fjords National Park; Haines, a town on North America’s longest fjord; Prince Rupert, British Columbia; and an array of wildlife including seals, orcas, whales, puffins and sea lions.
The 16-day Alaskan Explorations & Denali cruise travels in the opposite direction, from Vancouver to Fairbanks. The four-day land portion starts in Vancouver, before heading into the Klondike. Expect fly fishing, dramatic scenery, wildlife spotting, Kenai Fjords National Park and a ride on a deluxe dome railcar.
The Pacific Crossing & Denali cruise starts in Tokyo and sails to Fairbanks over 17 days. In Tokyo, dine at Michelin-starred restaurants, watch some Sumo wrestling and visit Japan’s largest marshland. Once in Alaska, visit a small mining town, Kenai Lake and Denali National Park to spot caribou, moose and grizzly bears.
Lastly, the Denali & Aleutians Cruise Tour is a 20-day experience from Fairbanks to Tokyo. Start in downtown Fairbanks before heading to Denali National Park, then the Aleutians, Kodiak, Sand Point and Dutch Harbor. Once in Japan, the ship stops in Kushiro, Miyako and finally Tokyo.
Cruises start at $4,269 per person.
