Review: Four Points by Sheraton Cocoa Beach

It’s impossible to miss the road signs leading to Ron Jon surf shop in Cocoa Beach, Fla. They are omnipresent. You’ll see them for miles, counting down the distance before you reach the shop and its accompanying hotel, owned by Sheraton.

Though a little overwrought and cheesy, the resort is nothing short of spectacular. There’s a massive waterfall at the outdoor swimming pool, a giant indoor fish tank overlooking the restaurant and spacious and cheerfully appointed hotel rooms just a short walk from the sugar-sand beaches. The restaurant serves local craft beer, and there’s also a Starbucks just off the lobby if you need a post-swim pick-me-up. This isn’t your average chain hotel.

The location is convenient, too, as it’s near two surf schools and the John F. Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral, whose iconic shuttle launch pad can be seen from Cocoa Beach.

The hotel is particularly attractive for families with young children, who will enjoy the slightly Disney-esque feel of the hotel. The only slight drawback is it’s not situated directly on the beach; instead, you’ll have to tote your boogie boards and coolers a short walk down a hot sidewalk.
