Until now, makers of Bluetooth speakers have seemingly found it difficult to produce units that balance affordability, sound quality and durability. The Fugoo changes all that, offering market-leading sound in an extremely tough package for around $200.

Although a variety of different jackets are available, the Tough option is the best for travelers. It is hard to find another speaker on the market that can survive being submerged in three feet of water for 30 minutes or dropped from head height.

Couple this durability with a 40-hour battery life and things are looking good for a long, adventurous weekend. Perhaps most importantly, audio performance has also been found to be best in class, so you can have high-quality audio accompaniment during even the most active of pursuits.

A number of mounts, including one for your bike handlebars, mean the Fugoo can go almost anywhere with you. The speaker measures just 7.4 by 2.9 by 2.3 inches, making it significantly smaller than its rivals, while a weight of just 1.1 pounds makes for an incredibly portable package.

The Fugoo Tough is currently on sale for $230 on the company website, while those looking for even greater audio power should consider pre-ordering the Tough XL for $330. The larger version is expected to ship in July.

Active pursuits need no longer be devoid of music with Fugoo, which is sturdy enough you can concentrate on riding, paddling or hiking without worrying about your speaker.
