Feeling trapped by rainy summer days? There’s plenty of activities to turn a boring rainy day into a memorable one. Keep your family occupied while the weather does its thing.
If you plan on spending the day outside of your room, keep it as indoors as possible.
Head to a Local Museum
This is the perfect opportunity to finally go to the museum’s new photography exhibit everyone is raving about.
Go on a Rain-Necessitated Shopping Spree
Go buy a cute raincoat, sturdy umbrella and even the rain boots you’ve been meaning to buy every time it rains.
Check Out the Local Booze Scene
If you have a local brewery, distillery or winery in your area, check to see if they have any available tours or tastings.
Lazy Afternoon in a Café
Slowly sip a cappuccino or a glass of wine and relax in a local café, the rain will stop — eventually.
Find an Arcade
Act like a kid and head to the arcade or even a roller skating rink.
Bowling/Movies
Bowling and the movies are the epitome of rainy day activities.
If you’re not leaving the house, there are plenty of options to occupy yourself.
Indoor Scavenger Hunt
Print some pictures or make a list of things in your home. Send friends and family on a scavenger hunt to find those items. If you have young kids, make it a productive adventure and include missing toy pieces that recently disappeared.
Bake
Bake cookies or a cake from a crazy Pinterest recipe. Spread random acts of kindness by taking them to a neighbor.
Camp Out
Pull out sleeping bags, flashlights and create a makeshift blanket fort to pretend you are on a campout. Some of the best childhood memories are from tent- and fort-building with old sheets draped over furniture. Once the camp is assembled, gather a snack and favorite books, reading them aloud in the dark by flashlight.
Movie Theater Charades
Make popcorn and take turns pretending you are in a movie, having others guess which movie you’re acting out.
Grab a Good Book
Grab a good book, pour yourself a glass or wine or hot tea and cozy up in your favorite spot in the house.
Netflix
Binge the newest Netflix series, because, why not?
