How To: Get Married by Eloping

Weddings / How To's

The decision to elope can be the single most freeing moment of you and your partner’s life. But you should ask yourself a few things before you jump the broom, tie the knot or wake the justice of the peace. What are the criteria for approval in the area you decide to “do the deed?” Some places are simple and some require your spontaneity to wait a few days.

The Sunshine State, Florida, requires no blood tests and has no waiting periods for out-of-state residents. Florida residents don’t even get that luxury. Drop your toes in the sand and say “I Do” on any one of the coastal areas of this state.

Perhaps you prefer to take the plunge and have your “kiss the bride” moment just as you exit a plane at 13,000 feet. Take off engaged, land blissfully bonded for life.

Another idea is a scuba dive ceremony into the depths unknown. A quick trip from Florida to the Bahamas can be the ticket, or anywhere else as Groupon deals to the Bahamas from all over the States are cheap, easy and likely available from more than 10 airports.

The Bahamas loves it when you get married there and the license is binding in the United States.

No matter where you do it, make it epic, romantic, sexy or a combination of all these. Spend a few hours researching your area’s specifics and guidelines. After that, the sea and the sky are the limit.

Eloping is not easy, but it a great way to keep it all about you and your love.
