If you’ve grown up eating oysters, you know you definitely need a good shucking knife. What about a shucking knife that not only gets the job done, but helps you give back to the environment? The Put Em-Back oyster knife from Toadfish Outfitters helps you do just that.

Oyster reefs around the world have suffered damage and dropped significantly, impacting coastal eco-systems globally. Toadfish explains that when recycled shell is placed back into the ecosystem it provides a place for regrowth. Toadfish partnered with organizations to help rebuild these oyster beds. For every Toadfish product purchased, 10 square of feet of oyster habitat is replenished.

If you’re in South Carolina, where Toadfish is based, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources organized a statewide oyster shell-recycling program where you can drop off your oyster shells to be returned to the water.

The products themselves are made from recycled materials. In an effort to make sure they are re-purposed, Toadfish encourages customers to return their old products.

If you want to feel good about your impact on the environment and also love seafood, consider purchasing a Toadfish product.
