It’s almost a given: Traveling to Sweden isn’t complete without finding a sauna ritual or wellness spot to meditate and appreciate the restorative properties of natural spring water. What if you could explore an underground sauna located more than 260 feet below ground?

The Lady of the Mine sauna combines a traditional Swedish sauna with Scandinavian accommodations. The experience, Savouring Swedish Serenity, created by Scandinavian travel specialists Off the Map Travel, sees travelers relax and sleep at barn-lodge Hello Sunnahed, enjoy meals by an accomplished Swedish chef, and spend time in the Lady of the Mine sauna.
The mysterious nature of the sauna begins before even reaching the waters; the sauna is accessed by a series of spacious tunnels and steps which gradually descend to the sauna below, which clings to rock overhanging the clear water. The experience in the sauna blends story with song and temperature, all guided by sauna master Elin Hietanen. Local food and drinks are available throughout the experience, too.

The culinary journey, also part of the Savouring Swedish Serenity experience from Off the Map Travel, sees Chef Görgen connect his menus to the surrounding nature and celebrate local produce. He is also available to take guests on a hiking and foraging experience to search for wild blueberries and other edible flora to be incorporated into meals. Guests can even prepare meals alongside the chef if they wish.
This four-night experience starts at $12,690 per person based on double occupancy. The experience includes accommodations, all meals, private ground transfers, sauna excursions and activities.
