Hotels are adding a new amenity to their roster of offerings: High Definition Golf top-of-the-line golf simulators, allowing guests to golf on-site all the time.

The simulator is available at Fairmont Banff Springs. Originally intended to provide lessons and club fitting in the winter, after the nearby course closed for the season, it became so popular, they installed the HD Golf system permanently within a bar and entertainment space.

The amenity is not just available at resorts — business and urban hotels are getting into the swing of things, like the Eilan Hotel in San Antonio, Texas, a member of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, which installed the simulator next to the spa.

“Many hotels are looking for ways to pull in the afterhours crowd — whether it’s hotel guests or locals. HD Golf helps them become a draw in the neighborhood,” said Todd Richardson, president and CEO, Interactive Sports Technologies, the manufacturer of the system. “It’s the ultimate, interactive form of entertainment for hotel bars and lounges.”

For hotels looking to install the system chain-wide or in more than one property, added benefits include the ability to run worldwide golf tournaments and competitions, or to create a virtual clubhouse social network.
