How To's

Gone are the days of matching, poofy-sleeved dresses and ill-fitting rented tuxedos. Members of the wedding party are more stylish than ever thanks to a growing list of clothing options and non-traditional wedding planning.

To make your wedding party stand out, follow these tips.

Popular Retailers

Companies like J. Crew and ModCloth offer chic, affordable selections for bridesmaids that can be worn again. Men can browse J. Crew’s great suit collection, too.

Customize It

Many grooms opt for custom-made suits for their groomsmen. Retailers like Brooks Brothers can accommodate such requests. Brides with a specific style in mind can design dresses for their bridesmaids. Local design studios or companies like Etsy offer customizable options.

Color Coordinate

If individuality is most important to you, ask your bridesmaids to wear the dress of their choice in a specific color. Groomsmen can match with their suit and tie. To further distinguish the wedding party, gift your bridesmaids with a statement necklace to complement their dress. The groom can give matching pocket squares as part of his groomsmen gift.

Pick Your Favorite

Do you love a particular store? Choose a specific dress or top/skirt for your bridesmaid at a store like Anthropologie or Lilly Pulitzer. They’ll all match, but still look unique. And they can wear the outfit again.

Have Fun

Whatever you decide to do for your big day, have fun with your wedding party. Let that groomsman wear his signature Chuck Taylors and your maid-of-honor her favorite bow in her hair. Individual touches will make your wedding memorable.
