Budget

With the excitement following the Super Bowl in San Francisco, the destination has seen an increase in tourists. But don’t think it needs to be a wallet-draining trip! We’ve compiled a list of exciting and affordable fun around the city while still hitting all the hot spots.

One thing about San Francisco is its many outdoor areas and parks. A must-see is Golden Gate Park, which has free entry. Explore the park’s gardens, meadows and trails. Be sure to stop by the Bison Paddock and Conservatory of Flowers; although there is a small fee, the experience is worth it. For the best views of Golden Gate Bridge, head to free Lands End Trail, a scenic coastal hike. Over at Ocean Beach, relax on the beach, enjoy a beachfront picnic or soak in a beautiful sunset while sitting around public firepits. And don’t miss out on panoramic city views from Twin Peaks.

The Cable Car Museum is also free to enter, offering an inside look at the history of the iconic cable cars. Immerse yourself in the culture by exploring North Beach Chinatown’s murals, streets and shops. Stop by Ferry Building Marketplace for local goods and bites; visit deYoung Museum to discover the hidden Three Gems installation; take part in free yoga classes, concerts and bird walks at Salesforce Park; and play vintage arcade games at Musée Mécanique.

The Living Earth Show recently announced the 2026 season of Roar Shack Live!, a series of performances at a vacant bar featuring experimental music, drag, dance and storytelling. Tickets are pay-what-you-can, making it a great way for travelers to support the local community and enjoy an entertaining performance.

While there are plenty of places to eat in San Francisco, many are as affordable as they are tasty: Legendary Mission burritos at La Taqueria, tea leaf salad at Yamo, fresh dumplings at Yuanbao Jiaozi, pineapple buns at Good Mong Kok Bakery, and banh mi at Saigon Sandwich.

You’ll even find budget-friendly hotels like Petite Auberge, Kensington Park Hotel and Beacon Grand.

Experiencing Gorilla Forest Lodge

Perched high within the UNESCO World Heritage site of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to more than half of the world's remaining 1,000 mountain gorillas, Gorilla Forest Lodge occupies a position unlike any other as the only luxury accommodation inside the park gates. The complete transformation has elevated the property into an intimate, 10-suite sanctuary where guests can wake to the symphony of the rainforest, trek alongside gorillas in their natural habitat, and return to exceptional comfort that exists in harmony with conservation and community.
